- Not yet. Further, Be has pretty much kept mum on when the designs currently
- inhouse will be available and what processors will appear. The current version
- of the BeBox uses two 66Mhz 603 PowerPC CPUs. It's still very cool, perhaps
- the spiritual successor to Amiga.

- MIDI would be nice and there is no way it should cost more than five
- dollars. Further, stereo microphone input and S-video as well as RCA jacks for
- video and two channels of variable rate sound sampling. This stuff is
- migrating into the low-end in the Mac/PC world so you need it to even pretend
- to play in the multi-media marketplace.
- >>>SCSI-2/E-IDE interface
- Lose the IDE stuff. It just sucks. And there's no reason to have it
- anymore. One nice thing about the PowerMac 7500 is that it comes with two SCSI
- controllers, one internal that drives the CD-ROM and a couple of hard-drives
- and the external one that will drive seven external devices. They need to at
- least support synchronous transfer mode(fast) and perhaps wide(16 or 32 bit
- parallel) and do away with the lame 25pin connector for external SCSI.

- Not sure that Zorro 3 compatability makes a lot of sense given PCI.

-
- Yes, absolutely. I'd love to see four serial ports with some more modern,
- dedicated UARTS(even USARTS) that contain medium deep FIFOs and do a lot of the
- protocol management on the UART. Two parallel ports should be enough.

- Well, depends on what SGI system you're talking about. They have some
- pretty amazing hunks o' iron these days....R10000 with Reality Engine. Of
- course, normal folks never get a shot at such.
